Sugitto Family

A wrong turn led us down a street we would’ve otherwise missed, and brought us to a family with some of the most amazing makers we’d meet during our trip.

The husband and wife duo that started it all, Sundari and Sugitto, began designing leather bags over two decades ago. The pair have since been able to teach the craft to Sundari’s younger brother, Ian, and to dozens of other family members looking to master the trade, too.

While each bag she sells gets Sundari one step closer to buying a workshop that isn’t inside her family’s home, she and Sugitto are proud that they’ve been able to show so many of their family and friends a lifelong skill, and to make such quality goods that will last a lifetime.
